A pet emergency is one of the most frightening things an owner can face. If your pet is showing signs of a serious medical issue during our regular business hours, the first thing to do is call us at 336-886-2315. Calling ahead allows our team to confirm doctor availability, prepare for your arrival, and make sure you are directed to the right care as quickly as possible.
Signs Your Pet Needs Emergency Care
Watch for these warning signs that your pet needs immediate attention:
- Open-mouth breathing or severe respiratory distress
- Heavy or uncontrolled bleeding
- Seizures or sudden collapse
- Extreme weakness or unresponsiveness
- Suspected ingestion of a toxic substance
- Inability to urinate, especially in cats
- Severe vomiting or diarrhea, particularly with blood
- Suspected broken bones or serious injury following trauma
- Distended or rigid abdomen
- Sudden loss of coordination or inability to stand
Why You Should Call Ahead
While we do everything we can to accommodate urgent cases, there are times when our team may be in surgery or otherwise unavailable to take an emergency walk-in immediately. Calling first allows us to:
- Confirm that a veterinarian is available to see your pet
- Prepare our team and equipment before you arrive
- Direct you to the nearest after-hours emergency facility without delay if needed
Your pet's health is always our top priority. Whether we can see your pet at our clinic or need to direct you elsewhere, we will make sure you know exactly where to go and what to do.
